They mine for our laughter, yet drill for our tears.
They trade our pure rivers for a slippery slope as if wealth has no price.
They give up our glory for gold, and our truths for trinkets.

They drown our green valleys in liquid debris,
leaving the fish to gasp for breath in the toxins.
Our forests, once lush, are now ghosts of the past,

Till when? Till the last river turns as dry as a bone?
They'll do anything for the envelope and a handshake,
even if it means to barter our future.

And now that there's no water to wash their hands clean,
They put us behind iron bars,
choking our voices to conceal their folly.
Spare politics here,
