The Revolution Starts With Us

One day,

the earth will wear green again,
the rivers will weep no more,
our sweat will cleanse the filth we fed them.
The sky will no longer choke on smoke.

Borders will blur,
and humanity will recognize itself as one.

The gender of our children
will no longer dictate the worth of their voice.

Justice will not sleep,
while the innocent are silenced.
The oppressed will no longer carry the shame
that belongs to their oppressors.

A child's birthplace will not decide
if they feast or famine, learn or be put to labour.
Every hand will hold opportunity,
and poverty will crumble under the weight of equity.

A wife will not wear bruises as tradition,
nor will fists serve as her husband's language.
Families will not scatter like seeds
to lands where love is a foreign tongue,
as 'home' becomes a war zone.

And that's because, We took a stand,
a stand to break the old patterns,
to tear down the systems that chain us.
We formed a movement not for a moment,
but of momentum that sparked change.

For this day we dream of is only promised
to those who fight for it today.

So if not now, then when?
If not us, then who?
